Meet Daniel Ha

Driven by a dream, hard work, and passionate pursuit, still 25 years later!

Like any good ascension story, my career was carved out by the help of key people in my life. A curious aspect of a key person is sometimes you never identify them as such until you can look back and see how your life has unfolded. Now with over a combined 25 years of experience working in the wine industry, I clearly recognize those connections.

As a burgeoning oenophile from Oklahoma, It was Young’s who gave me an opportunity to work for one of the largest wine distributors in the state. Exposure to a vast assortment of great wines from across the globe transformed my palate and equipped me with a keen sense of quality. I wanted to share great wines with people and have them know a truly transcendental experience.  Not long after, I was offered the opportunity to direct various wine programs.  Exquisite food coupled with remarkable wine became an infatuation for me.  It was in that role that I truly identified my passion; creating unforgettable experiences for my guests.

I had a taste of Napa when I worked on the distribution side and took a market trip out to Napa. I remember driving on 29 past the cemetery, the skies open and there was the sunset and I felt like I was driving into the hands of God. I was offered a GM wine director position at Budo- which was my vehicle to move out here. I hosted all the guests and was the front line. Connecting with people, creating experiences, and establishing relationships. Following that, I became Director of Hospitality for Vineyard 29, then launched brands like Dana Estates, Gandona Estate and Pulido~Walker. I have also had the honor to work with other brands including Quintessa, Futo, Fairchild, Zakin, Eisele Vineyard and BRION.  Navigating through my wine career, I found the common thread in my experiences is people. How you make people feel, foster relationships, and ensure trust. It’s always been about people.

With creating DMH Napa Valley, I realize that thread is more applicable now than ever. DMH prides itself on connecting the right people, with the right experience. Curating specific enjoyments tailored to your interests. Specializing in coveted experiences in Napa Valley.

Additional material to pull from:

I was first exposed to fine wine in Dallas. 1997: Screaming Eagle, ZD, Atticus. (Memorable firsts tried.)  A  particular guest would come in often and order caviar and Cristol rose weekly.  1961 Cheval Blanc as a wine director in Dallas, a wine Daniel fondly remembers.

The Coach House and the Metro catapulted my love affair with not only fine wine but exquisite food.  Shoestring pomme frites, assorted pates... Now that cuisine is common, but back then it was a luxury.  I loved the hospitality, the energy of entertaining guests. Enamored by wine, even before I could touch it.

My education of wine started as a career, it was on-the-job training that forced me to succeed and also fall in love. As my knowledge increased, my exposure heightened.
